TOLLESON IS FAMILY —
AND THAT MATTERS
In Tolleson, we are one extended family—and leadership means bringing us back to the table together.
Generations live side by side here. Neighbors know one another. People show up when times are hard and celebrate together when times are good. That sense of family isn’t just a feeling—it’s how Tolleson has always worked, and it’s one of our greatest strengths.
I first ran for office as a third-generation Tolleson resident during a moment of national upheaval—amid Trump-era politics and the uncertainty of COVID—because I believed local voices mattered more than ever. I felt a responsibility to step up and help ensure our community had leadership rooted in compassion, stability, and love for our fellow human beings.
Five years later, we find ourselves in another moment where those same values are urgently needed.
Our country feels more divided. Conversations are harder. People are quicker to judge and slower to listen. But Tolleson has always been different. We are a city that knows how to come back to the table—listening with open hearts, learning from one another, and leading with empathy, even when we don’t always agree.
That belief has guided my work on City Council. I’ve kept a full, demanding schedule because this role matters. I’ve shown up—to meetings, boards, community events, and difficult conversations—because leadership isn’t about titles. It’s about responsibility. It’s about doing the work, even when it’s hard and even when no one is watching.
Growing up in Tolleson taught me that leadership means responsibility to one another. Tolleson deserves leadership that listens first, works hard, and leads with heart. These are the values that brought me to City Hall—and the values that continue to guide me as I run for re-election.
“In Tolleson, we are one extended family—and leadership means bringing us back to the table together.”
Jimmy is running for re-election to continue this work—bringing people together, listening first, and leading with heart.
Building Regional Partnerships That Deliver for Tolleson
Jimmy works collaboratively with regional and international partners to strengthen economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties. Pictured here with the Mayor, City Manager, and staff of Puerto Peñasco, Jimmy helped formalize a Sister Cities agreement that builds on a long-standing tradition of mutual support—coordinating surplus supplies, shared resources, and arts and cultural exchange between our communities.
Strong relationships matter. They create opportunity, deepen understanding, and ensure Tolleson remains a respected partner beyond our city limits.
Investing in the Next Generation of Leaders
Jimmy is a consistent champion for youth voice and civic education. Pictured here with the Tolleson Teen Council en route to the National League of Cities Congressional Conference, he pushed to expand access so local youth could participate in national leadership programming.
By creating pathways for students to engage directly with policymakers and civic institutions, Jimmy is helping prepare the next generation to lead—because the future of Tolleson belongs to them, too.
Showing Young People What’s Possible
Jimmy regularly visits local schools to talk with students about careers in public service, the arts, and community leadership. He believes young people should see that they don’t have to choose just one path—that passion, creativity, and service can coexist.
By sharing his own journey, Jimmy encourages students to dream big, stay curious, and understand that leadership comes in many forms.
